Should I wash the dates before eating?
According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), you should wash raw fruits and vegetables very well before you peel, cut, eat or cook with them.
How should I store the dates?
If you plan on eating the dates within a week or two, you can keep the dates on the counter or in the pantry. If you plan on enjoying your dates over a longer period, place the dates in the refrigerator for up to three months or the freezer for a year.
What variety of date is offered?
Medjool dates, also known as “the king of fruits” are the date variety grown on our ranches. These dates are rich, almost caramel like taste, with a soft and chewy texture. Medjools are larger, softer and sweeter than other varieties. With each harvest several grades are produced.
Colossal: The largest of the season, full in length and circumference, moist quality and consistent flesh.
Jumbo: Similar to colossal, but skin not as firm. Slightly smaller in size with a moist and meaty flavor.
Large: A standard size date. Full of flavor and moisture.
Mix: A variety of sizes, firm, with some wrinkled skin, some imperfections
Confection: A drier quality and imperfections with a quality taste.
Do the dates have pits?
Yes, our dates contain a large pit that can easily be removed. There is not processing involved. The dates are meant to be enjoyed in their natural state.
